Task Restrictions and Permission Groups

The Task Restrictions feature allows you to:

• Limit which users can perform tasks for a given layout, submission, and flow block.
• Streamline the work assignments of separate teams.

Task restrictions and permission groups

Task Restrictions enable access to tasks based on permission groups. To give a user access to a specific task, you have to:

1. Add the user to a permission group.
2. Add the permission group to a task restriction.
3. Add the task restriction to a submission, layout, or flow block.

Permission groups can include different types of permissions. For example, a permission group might give users access to complete Field ID and QA tasks, but, at the same time, the permission group might not give access to complete transcription tasks. Note that if you do not define a task restriction for a submission, layout, or flow block, all users with corresponding permissions will have access to the respective tasks. If a user is not a part of a permission group defined in a task restriction, they will not have access to the tasks that are restricted. We’ll review example scenarios in the section below.

Example scenarios

The examples below include scenarios with submissions with different layout variations, restricted permissions, and task restrictions.

Restricted permissions only

In the example below, Complete Transcription and View Layouts permissions are disabled, and there are no task restrictions.

Submission-level task restriction only
