Folder Listener only retrieving data in subfolders

This article describes an issue in versions of Hyperscience that are not documented on this site.

Issue

• The original Folder Listener connector expects files to be uploaded in batches, and the files need to be placed inside some sub-folder in the folder scanned by the connector.

• If files are not in a sub-folder, then they are not uploaded to Hyperscience.

• The connection test would be successful, but new files will not be pulled in.

In v32, we introduced the Universal Folder Listener connector, which can replace the old Folder Listener. This connector can retrieve files that are not placed in a sub-folder.

Cause

The original Folder Listener connector expects files to be uploaded in batches, and the files need to be placed inside some sub-folder in the folder scanned by the connector.

Solution / Workaround

• If you are using v32 or later, migrate your input to the Universal Folder Listener.

• If you are using an earlier version, simply place the files to be imported into a sub-folder in the main path configured for the connector. For example, if the path is .../path/to/folder, the files should be placed in .../path/to/folder/subfolder/.
